The Common Framework (CFW) is a set of common Drupal code functionalities and presentations to allow the implementation of websites across the Maricopa environment that share these elements.  The most common usage is styling built using Drupal to implement websites with shared elements across Maricopa environments. It's primarily used for the nine college websites (next version will be all 10 colleges).  This approach allows for and www.maricopa.edu. This approach enables a central core team to support the framework for security, bug fixfixes, and feature enhancements. Common Framework 3 is the third iteration of the product to move this onto the newest version of Drupal (D9), the newest version of the Bootstrap Library (5.1), and provide a more feature rich tool implementing feedback from our current CFW2 users

The CFW is a collection of features, functionalities, styling, and layouts that help build individual websites adhering to the Maricopa branding and layout standards. Standardizing website navigation, search, menus, programs, degrees, and certifications enhances the user experience and aids in familiarity with the sites. The CFW includes the Bootstrap Library and provides automatic responsiveness on different-sized devices, ADA Section 508 compliance, and a friendly user interface for viewers and editors alike.

Version 3 of our framework represents a significant upgrade. It transitions to the latest Drupal version (D10) and incorporates the newest Bootstrap Library (5.2). This release enhances CFW’s features and provides help links and examples in the editing interface.

The Departmental Framework (DFW) is an extension of the CFW, tailored for specialized websites. It removes student-specific features while adding more advanced functionalities, including Azure authentication for all users, enabling access to private content on intranets or marketing sites for Maricopa (or college-specific) users, specialized search capabilities for private content not indexed by Google, custom content types for crime logs, use-it-or-lose-it reports, procurement contracts, blogs. The DFW allows for customized configuration while benefiting from feature updates developed for the CFW.
