The Common Framework uses roles to manage site access as opposed to individual permissions. Below is a high-level overview of the roles available in the Common Framework. There is also a detailed list of Common Framework roles and permissions.

General Roles

There are five general roles in the Common Framework. Your access is determined by your role within MCCCD and your level of training with the ITS Web Team.

Access

Content Editor

Content Editor is the most basic role available in the Common Framework. Content editors can edit existing content.

Content Editor is the default role for people outside of Marketing and IT.

Marketeer

Marketeers can create and edit content.

Marketeer is the default role for Marketing people.

Site Builder

Site Builders can change some structure such as blocks.

Site Builder is the default role for IT people. It can also be assigned to highly experienced Marketing people with training.

Developer

Developers can create Responsible for creating advanced content presentation that generally requires theme changes

  • Some context and views

Developer is generally restricted to IT people / people with the knowledge and experience to understand the potential impacts of changing advanced ways to present content in the Common Framework.

Responsible for testing functionality

Webmaster

Webmaster is the most advanced role in the Common Framework. Webmaster is the only role who can manage the following:

  • Users, roles, permissions

  • Content types

  • All context and views

  • Site-wide configuration

  • Modules

Webmaster is generally restricted to the ITS Web Team.

Specialized Roles

There are two specialized roles within the Common Framework. These roles were created to allow subject matter experts to do very specific functions. Colleges are responsible for determining the appropriate individual(s) to be assigned to each role.

Curriculor

The Curriculor role can publish and delete awards from the Degrees and Certificates section of the Common Framework.

This role should ideally be assigned to someone knowledgeable about the individual awards offered at your college.

MEMS

MEMS stands for Maricopa Emergency Management System. The MEMS role can publish MEMS alerts that appear at the top of each page site-wide.

This role should ideally be assigned to someone responsible for communicating about public safety concerns.
