Many colleges use Events to promote local college events intended for a public audience. The most recent three Events you’ve created will also populate your college’s homepage.

Instructions

  • Go to Content > Add Content > Event

  • Give the event a Name

  • Assign the event to a Section

This section is connected to a taxonomy term and should be set to Events.

  • Choose an Event Category from the list box

If the Event Category list box is blank, add in terms to the Event Category taxonomy first.

  • In the Event Date(s) section, indicate the Start date and time and End time of the event

The Event dates use the Smart Date field that allows adding repeating events. To read more about them check the Smart Date article.

If the event occurs on multiple dates, select Add another item and repeat the step above.

  • If there is a fee associated with the event, enter this in the Cost field

  • Provide the Location and Address where the event will take place

  • Use the Additional Info field to add extra content to the bottom of the right sidebar

The Additional Info field does not come with a defined label. You can add your own. If you want to match the existing label style, set the Text Format to Full HTML and click the Source button. Then copy/paste the snippet below and customize.

  • Use the Event description body field to provide more detail about your event

  • Under Signup link, add a call to action (CTA) under Title and provide the URL where participants can go to register for the event

  • If there are additional links associated with your event, provide them in the Related Links section

  • Add an Event image

Your event image must be 975x500px

  • Click Save

After you save your Events, you now have the option to create an Event Collection. To learn more about creating an Event Collection, go to Event Collection
