Section Front Pages and Pages do not offer an accordion option, so if you would like to create tabbed content, you will need to create an FAQ page.

Instructions

  • Go to Content > Create Content > FAQs

  • In the Question field, put the title of the the accordion

  • Put content into the Answer field

To add another section to this page, click the Add Another Item button and this will create another set of fields.

There is not a limit on the number of sections you can add to an FAQ page, but best practices suggests not making the page so long that users can’t find the information they need. Currently, District ITS' best practices recommends a maximum of 10 items.

  • In the Menu Settings section, select Provide a Menu Link

  • Provide a Description of the page (this is important for search engine optimization and for ADA compliance)

  • Assign the page to the main section of the site it will appear under, called the Parent Item

The menu link title should match the page title, since the section front pages are specifically meant to summarize the section.

  • The Weight determines where in the navigation menu the title of the page will appear (the lower the weight, the higher the term will be in the menu)

  • Now, click the URL Path Settings option below the Menu Settings link

  • This is where you change the URL from a node to a user-friendly link (you can select “Generate automatic URL alias” and Drupal will use the page title and section title to generate the URL)

Prepositions like “to” and “of” will be dropped from the URL structure. If you choose to create your own alias, the alias should show both the parent section and the child section.

  • Click Save to publish your content

Each tab collapses when not clicked on, so you can pack quite a bit of content onto these FAQ pages. As a best practice, though, it is a good idea to save the page once you have four or five FAQ question fields complete and then go back in to enter the rest. Some designers have noticed that this page can get temperamental at or over 10 fields.
