A program is an area of study in which students can specialize. Most programs lead to one or more degrees or certificates (also known as pathways). Examples: Construction Trades, Education, Dance, Chemistry, Storytelling, or Spanish. Other programs are designed as collections of courses and/or experiences that do not lead to a degree or certificate. Examples: Lifetime Fitness, Teacher Preparation, Honors, etc.

Program pages on the web have three main components: a Program Overview, Why Your College, and a list of degrees and certificates within that Program. Learn more about each section below.

Program Overview

The program overview is a 1-2 paragraph, keyword rich description of each program to help drive prospective students to these pages. Program overviews are fed into Colleges websites and Maricopa.edu from a central repository maintained by District ITS, District Marketing, and the Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation.

Program overviews are meant to be general in nature as they are shared across all Maricopa Community Colleges offering this program.

District Marketing collaborated with the Pathway Mapping team and district-wide Instructional Councils to develop the program overviews. District Marketing will facilitate an annual review each Spring of program overviews by these parties. If major changes are required in between annual reviews, please send an email to Matthew.Rodgers@domail.maricopa.edu, pathways.mapping@domail.maricopa.edu, and the appropriate Instructional Council if known.

Why Your College

Your college has the option to customize program pages on your website under the why your college section, e.g. Why Phoenix College? This is where you can put college-specific information about your program such as:

  • Points of pride for your college

  • Accreditation information

  • Contact information

If including contact info, it is recommended to use distribution list emails and shared phone lines rather than individual contact info. It is a very poor student experience to contact an individual only to find they no longer work there or in that role. Even if you have a good process for updating contact information on your site, the old information may still come up in a Google search after you make the change to your site.

You college also has the option to leave this section blank. If you do, nothing will display besides the general program overview.

To request updates, please contact your college’s web staff or Marketing Manager.

List of Degrees and Certificates

The list of degrees and certificates are fed into Colleges websites and Maricopa.edu from a central repository maintained by District ITS, District Marketing, and the Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation.

To report an issue, please send an email to web@domail.maricopa.edu, pathways.mapping@domail.maricopa.edu, and your college web staff so that we can review and troubleshoot as necessary.
