The ASSIST Chatbot Block is a block that can be placed on a page to enable chatting with students visiting the website.


Instructions

Creating a ASSIST Chatbot Block

You will need the following ASSIST to create your form:

  • Amazon Connect (required) - this is the unique identifier for a specific AWS Assist Chatbot instance

  • Snippet ID (required) -  this is the unique identifier for a specific AWS Assit Chatbot snippet.

If you do not have these codes, contact the ITS ASSIST Team before continuing.

  • Go to Structure > Blocks

  • Select a region like Featured bottom or Footer and click the Place block button next to it

  • Click the Place block button next to the Assist Chatbot Block

  • If necessary, adjust the Title for to locate it later on the Blocks overview

  • Uncheck the Display title checkbox

  • Add the Amazon Connect value provided by the ASSIST Team (see above)

  • Enter your colleges hex color codes in the Color fields

  • Add the Snippet ID value provided by the ASSIST Team (see above)

  • Select your college as the Default College. This pre-fills the Preferred College drop-down with your college

  • Update the Visibility settings to get the block to appear on desired pages

  • Click Save block

  • Review your site to make sure your new block is appearing only on the intended pages.
